Background
Colby and his wife, Katie, both grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, in a small town called Albany, Oregon. He attended Western Baptist College (now known as Corban College) and got his B.S. in Pastoral Ministry. While there, Colby developed his talents for music and for leading people in engaging with God through worship. After college, he got an Associate Worship Pastor position at Salem Alliance Church in Salem, OR, and spent 2 years there honing his craft and learning what it means to be in full time ministry and work within a team. Then, in the summer of 2006, Colby and his family moved to Chandler, AZ to join the movement at The Grove as their Pastor of Worship and Arts.

Philosophy in Ministry
We spend most of our time living out our own version of our own stories, where we are the lead protagonist. Jesus calls us to give up our agendas and trust Him for His. Give up our stories, and join Him in His.
Worship gives us space and opportunity to realign our stories with His story. So that's what I do. On Sunday mornings, people gather together, and I help facilitate that "realigning" process.
Primarily, we accomplish this through telling the story of God, over and over, in new and engaging ways, through song, scripture, prayer, and testimony.
I believe the Way of Jesus is the best way towards creating a world full of love, not hate; of peace, not war; of humility not oppression and domination; of sacrifice, not consumption; of forgiveness, not revenge; of generosity, not narcissism; of joy, not sorrow.
Hopefully, through my life, others will come to see that too... that the Way of Jesus is the best way to put this world to rights.
